Pizza Hut

Last evening after a long day's work my family travelled to Iowa Falls for a pizza supper.  It was around 8 pm when we arrived, and the place was deserted except for the staff and a group of linemen from Minnesota who came in not long before we left.  We thought it was odd for the restaurant to be empty, but it could be due to the fact that most Iowans in our area seem to eat supper between 5 and 6:30 pm.
Deep-Dish Barbecue Pizza

We placed our order for 3 large pizzas at $11.00 each, a price that beats Pizza Ranch ($12) and Casey's General Store ($11.59 for a plain cheese pizza).  Our drinks were brought to us quickly, and we discussed the interesting building while we waited for our pizzas.
The windows are shaped like isosceles trapezoids, but the owners must have gotten tired of that look because both the inside and outside of the restaurant now have shutters to make the windows look normal.  We didn't like the music playing from speakers in the ceiling, but it wasn't loud enough to be annoying.
The waitress brought our meat supreme pizza with a hand-tossed crust first.  We thanked the Lord and commenced eating.  I thought it was delicious (especially the garlicky crust), and Papa voted this pizza as his favorite of the three.
Next was our cheese pizza.  It was ok, but nothing to write home about.

My favorite was the deep-dish barbecue pizza (pictured first), with the meat supreme a very close second.  I was very happy that the pizzas were not too greasy.  Some pizzas I have eaten are like eating a delicious tiny bit of poison because they are *so* greasy.   These were just right and the garlic taste was wonderful!

The service was very good, and the friendly waitress checked occasionally to make sure our glasses were always filled and we were content.  There were plenty of left-overs to take home with us, and we were given peppermints with our bill.  I popped one into my mouth and surprise: these mints were called *pepper* -mints for a reason!  They were hot and spicy--just like Big Red chewing gum.  Unfortunately, Big Red chewing gum is the one thing in the world that I seem to be allergic to! Thankfully Big-Red-style mints don't seem to be the second thing I'm allergic to; I gulped some water and was fine.
Thank you Papa for taking us out for a wonderful evening!  I would definitely recommend Pizza Hut to anyone looking for a tasty pizza.   Everything is delicious, but beware of their fiery peppermint candy!

  1. Hey, I had pizza for dinner today! It's one of my favorite foods--some pizzas are better than others, of course.
